LACE for SDGs” gave a chance to various NGOs and young people

The project “Learning, Acting, Creating and Educating for Sustainable Development Goals / LACE for SDGs” gave a chance to various NGOs and young people to share their ideas and innovative projects aimed at improving the welfare of the local community by including sustainable development goals.
Within the project, in December 2017, January and February 2018, an open call for applications for an innovative competition was published in seven countries (Bulgaria, Italy, France, Spain, India, Nepal and Thailand). Each country has successfully gathered and evaluated a number of projects and chose two that will be realized during the summer months within the project. Navigator Association received 26 project proposals aimed at fighting poverty, gender discrimination, ecological issues related to water and nature conservation and others. All of them were connected to the seventeen main goals of sustainable development. The project team together with the President of the organization chose two projects, which will be supported and implemented on the territory of Pazardzhik, Bulgaria. The first project is related to poverty and the lack of opportunities for the local Roma community. Activities aimed at informing and raising the competences and skills of Roma children and youth aged 13-18 years will be implemented. The young people will be involved in activities related to receiving information on what Erasmus + is, what activities they can join in the future and will have the chance to participate in intercultural exchanges with volunteers from Spain, Italy, France and Turkey. They will take part in workshops that reflect on their free time and focus on building leaders and personalities, motivators within their community. The other project focuses on gender equality and discrimination between men and women. Young people will hold a number of work-information meetings in three schools and will make video showing what discrimination and xenophobia are and how the youth can fight such acts in school, family and local community. The projects will be realized in May, June and July 2018 and will be supported financially. Each informal group will receive € 500 funded by a project “Learning, Acting, Creating and Educating for Sustainable Development Goals / LACE for SDGs” under Program Erasmus Plus / KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices -Capacity Building in the field of Youth
